Livestock Carcass Crisis Looms: Korea Faces Mounting Waste Management Challenge
Livestock carcasses in Korea are a big deal, with 158,000 tons produced each year. Different animals have different mortality rates, like 2.4% for beef cattle and 19.9% for swine. Most carcasses are buried or composted on the farm. With more dead animals expected in the future, a better system for handling and recycling them is needed.
