Traditional Dance Stereotypes Hinder Popularization, Perception Key to Boosting Acceptance
The study looked at how people's perceptions of Korean traditional dance affect its popularity, focusing on stereotypes and value judgments. They surveyed 455 adults and found that women have more positive views of traditional dance than men. Older adults, especially those over 50, also have more positive perceptions. Positive stereotypes lead to higher value judgments, which in turn increase expectations for the dance's popularity. Overall, people's perceptions play a significant role in shaping the popularity of Korean traditional dance.
