Regenerative braking in electric vehicles helps recharge the battery by using energy from braking. However, fast charging during regenerative braking can harm the battery. Research shows that longer charging periods from regenerative braking can damage the battery, especially if the battery's state of charge and temperature are not optimal. But, using regenerative braking more can actually extend the battery's life by reducing how much it's discharged and by charging it more frequently.
