Researchers used machine learning to create a neural network that predicts penguin species based on their physical attributes. They prepared a dataset by removing irrelevant data, leaving 333 examples of three penguin species. The neural network, with no hidden layers, was trained using the softmax activation formula. 25% of the data was used for validation, while the remaining 75% was used for training.
