New model identifies high-risk populations and priority control measures for soil metal exposure.
Trace metal(loid)s in soil can be harmful to humans. A new model was created to better assess health risks by using Monte Carlo simulation and a Logistic Chaotic sequence. The model found that children and adult females are at higher risk for different types of health issues. Recommended exposure levels were determined to keep risks low. Different regions had different priority metals to control for health risks. This improved model provides more accurate risk assessments and guidelines for safe exposure levels for at-risk populations.
