Rangelands around the world are being damaged by factors like overgrazing and extreme weather, which affects the services they provide to people. This chapter looks at why this degradation is happening and how we can tell when it's occurring. It also suggests ways to restore damaged rangelands and talks about what we can do in the future to monitor and assess this issue.
