Earlier sowing and higher seeding rates boost rye grain yield significantly.
Rye grain yield can be increased by planting seeds earlier and at higher rates. A study in Turkey found that sowing rye seeds in mid-October with a high seeding rate resulted in the highest grain yield. On the other hand, planting seeds later and at lower rates led to lower grain yields. The number of fertile spike per unit area was significantly reduced by delayed sowing and low seeding rates.
