Boosting Green Fodder Yield: Key Factors Unveiled in Multicut Oats Study
The researchers studied different types of oats for making animal feed. They found that taller plants with more tillers and leaves produced more green fodder and dry matter. In the first cut, plant height, tillers per meter, and leaves per tiller had a direct positive effect on green fodder and dry matter yield. In the second cut, only plant height had a strong direct effect on green fodder and dry matter yield. This shows that certain characteristics of oats can help predict how much fodder and dry matter they will produce.
