Accurate global weather forecasting is crucial, and a new method called Pangu-Weather uses advanced 3D neural networks to improve predictions. By training on 39 years of data, this system outperforms the current best forecasting system, ECMWF, in various weather variables. Pangu-Weather also excels in tracking tropical cyclones and extreme weather events, making it a promising tool for medium-range forecasting.
