Urdbean Variety and Crop Spacing Boost Yields, Transforming Rainfed Farming in Tamil Nadu
The study evaluated different black gram varieties in Tamil Nadu to see which ones had the highest seed yield. They also looked at how different crop spacings affected seed production. The results showed that the VBN (Bg) 6 variety had the highest seed yield, while MDU 1 had the lowest. Plant spacing of 20 cm x 10 cm resulted in the highest seed output. This spacing also increased seed production by 38.0% and harvest index by 16% compared to the recommended spacing of 30 cm x 10 cm.
