Mutagen treatment with Ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) and Diethyl sulphate (DES) was used to study stress response in mustard and rapeseed plants. Mustard plants showed less sensitivity to EMS, while rapeseed plants were less sensitive to DES. This suggests that EMS is better for improving rapeseed, and DES is better for mustard. Stress response analysis can help predict positive changes in traits like siliqua per plant and plant height.
