Social cash transfers enhance climate resilience for vulnerable communities worldwide.
Climate change is causing serious problems for vulnerable groups, especially in developing countries. To help people and communities become more resilient to these challenges, policymakers are looking at how social cash transfers (SCT) can help. A new framework called the Adaptive Capacity Outcomes Framework (ACOF) was created to assess how SCTs can improve adaptive capacity and resilience. The framework was tested in Indonesia, Zambia, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Tanzania, and it was found that SCTs alone have limited impact on adaptive capacity. However, when combined with other support like nutrition or livelihood training, positive effects were seen. This framework can help evaluate the impact of SCTs on building resilience to climate change.
