Traditional architecture in Niger State outperforms modern for sustainable housing.
The study compared traditional and modern housing in Niger State, Nigeria to see which is better for sustainable living. Traditional houses were found to be more comfortable and cost-effective than modern ones. Traditional houses have courtyards, use natural materials, and connect to nature, while modern houses lack these features. Traditional houses also need less energy for heating compared to modern houses. The study suggests combining elements of both traditional and modern architecture for sustainable homes in Northern Nigeria.
