Biodiversity and ecosystem function studies look at how different species in an ecosystem affect its overall health. A new method called DI modelling helps us understand this relationship better by considering species identity, evenness, richness, and interactions. Traditional methods that only focus on species richness may miss important patterns. DI models can predict ecosystem function more accurately by looking at all aspects of species diversity. Using DI models can give us a deeper understanding of how biodiversity impacts ecosystems, leading to better predictions and insights.
