Volcanic Eruption Spares Antarctica's Ozone Layer from Harm
Scientists used satellite data to see if water vapor from a volcanic eruption affected the Antarctic stratosphere in 2022. They found that the water vapor from the eruption did not significantly impact the Antarctic polar vortex or its composition that year. The vortex was normal in size, strength, and duration. However, future impacts on the polar vortices are expected as the water vapor from the eruption has spread globally.
