Overgrazing in Kurdistan Threatens Natural Vegetation Seed Productivity, Study Finds.
The study looked at how often mowing affects the amount of seeds produced by plants in Duhok Governorate. Overgrazing, fires, and droughts have harmed the soil's seed bank, which is crucial for plant regrowth. The researchers found that repeatedly mowing the plants led to lower seed production overall, except for a specific group of seeds that actually increased when mowed twice instead of once. This suggests that natural vegetation can be mowed or grazed up to two times without harming its growth too much.
