High private education costs linked to negative perceptions of student evaluation fairness
The study looked at what elementary school parents think about a new way of evaluating students. They found that parents who spend more on private education are more critical of this new evaluation method. Also, parents who see evaluation as just giving feedback tend to think teachers are not fair in this new process. Parents who want their kids to do well in school and go to good schools have lower expectations for changes with this new evaluation policy. Overall, parents with high hopes for their kids' success through school have lower expectations for changes in students and teachers with this new evaluation method.
