Climate change impacts vegetation growth differently based on seasonal weather patterns.
The study looked at how climate factors like temperature and rainfall affect plant growth in a region called Naqu in Tibet. They compared how plants respond to climate during the growing season and between growing seasons. They found that during the growing season, plants are strongly influenced by temperature and rainfall, with the strongest response happening about a month after the climate changes. However, between growing seasons, the relationship between plant growth and rainfall is not as clear, and the effects of climate factors are weaker. This suggests that the way plants interact with climate can vary depending on the time of year, with different factors playing a role in different seasons.
