Unlocking the Key Traits for Higher Grain Yield in Kodo Millet
Researchers studied 64 types of kodo millet to understand their genetic traits affecting grain yield. They found that certain traits like plant height, panicle length, and fodder yield showed high variability and heritability, indicating they are controlled by genes and not the environment. Traits like days to flowering, number of tillers, and test weight were strongly linked to higher grain yield. By focusing on these traits, farmers can improve kodo millet production.
