Optimal protein diets boost growth performance of carps in polyculture farming.
The study looked at how different protein diets affect the growth and muscle composition of four types of carp in polyculture farming. Fish fed diets with 28% and 30% protein had the most muscle protein. A diet with 32% protein led to higher muscle fat levels. Carbohydrates in the muscles were highest in fish fed 28% protein diets. Among the fish species, Rohu had the most muscle protein, while Silver Carp had the least. Mrigal and Silver Carp had the most muscle carbohydrates. For better growth performance in carp farming, feeding them diets with 28-30% protein is recommended.
