Polluted water purified by sulfur-infused biochar, transforming lives worldwide.
Sulfur-modified biochar was created to remove Chromium from water efficiently. By adjusting the pyrolysis temperatures, time, and S/C ratio, the modified biochar showed a 92% removal rate of Cr. The sulfur modification increased the biochar's ability to adsorb and reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III) by forming sulfur-containing groups that interacted with the chromium. The larger surface area of the modified biochar also helped in the removal and reduction of Cr(VI).
