Ultra-large ships experience increased fatigue due to springing effects. A new method called stress mode superposition spectral method (SSM) was developed to analyze this. When springing is considered, fatigue stress creates higher peaks at high frequencies, leading to significantly more damage. The impact of springing on fatigue strength depends on wave angles and sea conditions. This method helps evaluate fatigue in ultra-large ships better.
