New climate database may mislead agricultural decisions in Ukraine's region.
The researchers evaluated the climate in Kherson region from 1970-2000 using a database called "Global Aridity Index and Potential Evapotranspiration Database v3". They compared the results with standard methods and found minimal differences in estimating evapotranspiration and aridity index. However, the database overestimated evaporation in Kherson, suggesting it should be used as a supplement rather than the sole source of information. The database is valuable for climate information but should not be relied on entirely for assessing the climate situation in Ukraine.
