CityGML has a level of detail (LOD) called LOD2 for energy analysis of buildings, but it's not detailed enough for large-scale energy simulations. A new LOD2 for energy simulation (LOD2ES) was created, adding more info on building features like façade and roof details. When tested on 10 buildings in different climates, LOD2ES showed a 20-22% improvement in simulation accuracy compared to traditional LOD2 models. It outperformed LOD2plus and ran 15% faster.
