Climate Change Threatens Health Systems Worldwide, Adaptation Urgently Needed
Climate change affects health worldwide. National health plans play a crucial role in shaping a country's health system. A study looked at plans from 101 countries to see how they address climate change. 66 plans mention climate change, but only 38 suggest ways to adapt. African and low-income countries talk about climate change more than rich countries. Plans are more likely to mention climate change in countries facing high climate risks. Only a third of plans discuss both climate change effects and adaptation measures. Plans from countries heavily impacted by climate change focus more on addressing it.
