New algorithm accurately uncovers causal relationships in complex systems with feedback loops
Feedback loops are important in complex systems, but many causal discovery methods ignore them. Surprisingly, the Fast Causal Inference (FCI) algorithm can correctly identify causal relationships in systems with feedback. It can determine the presence or absence of causal relations, direct causal relations, confounders, and specific cycles in the causal graph. This extends to other causal discovery algorithms like the PC algorithm and the FCI-JCI algorithm.
