Conventional farming outperforms organic and natural farming in crop yields and profits.
In a study in Junagadh, Gujarat, India, researchers compared three types of farming: conventional, organic, and low-cost natural farming. They wanted to see how well these different farming methods worked in growing six major crops in Gujarat. The results showed that conventional farming gave higher crop yields compared to organic and low-cost natural farming. Conventional farming also had more nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium after harvest. However, organic farming had more organic carbon and some important minerals like iron, zinc, copper, and manganese after harvest. Economically, conventional farming gave the highest profits and returns, and a better benefit-cost ratio compared to the other methods.
