Improving the energy efficiency of machine tools is crucial for sustainable manufacturing. Researchers found that all energy efficiency values of a machine tool are within an Inherent Energy Efficiency Surface (IEES). They developed a method based on IEES to label energy efficiency. By using standardized domain cells, they characterized the maximum and mean energy efficiency of machine tools. The proposed method outperformed in standardizing energy labeling.
