Satellite images reveal changing vegetation patterns in Tamil Nadu over a decade
Vegetation in Tamil Nadu was monitored using satellite images to track changes over time. By analyzing data from 2011 to 2021, researchers found that the intensity of plant growth varied throughout the years. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) showed higher values than the enhanced vegetation index (EVI), indicating differences in biomass levels. Deciduous forests had the highest values, followed by croplands, and scrublands had the lowest values. This study shows that satellite data can provide valuable information about the health and condition of vegetation in a specific area over a short period of time.
