Dietary supplements improve health of African catfish without negative effects.
The study looked at how adding certain substances to the diet of African catfish affects their growth and health. They fed the fish different diets with mannaoligosaccharides (MOS) and β-glucan for 63 days. The results showed that the fish's weight, growth rate, and survival were similar across all diets. The levels of certain blood parameters were lower in fish fed the MOS diet, but overall, adding MOS and β-glucan did not harm the catfish. More research is needed to understand how these substances affect the catfish's immune system.
