Increasing leaf size in fodder sorghum boosts green fodder yield significantly.
The study looked at different characteristics of fodder sorghum plants to see which ones were linked to higher green fodder yield. They found that the number of leaves, leaf size, and stem thickness were positively related to yield. Specifically, longer and wider leaves had a strong positive impact on green fodder yield. Even though having more leaves and thicker stems initially seemed to have a negative effect on yield, their contribution through leaf size was actually significant. This suggests that increasing the number and size of leaves in existing fodder varieties can greatly boost fodder yield.
