Revolutionizing Soil Health: Strip Tillage Boosts Crop Yield in China
Strip tillage was studied in Northeast China to see how it affects soil pore structure. After 14 years of research, it was found that strip tillage increased large pores in the soil, especially at shallow depths. This helps water storage and movement in the soil. Strip tillage also improved soil quality by increasing pore connectivity and fractal dimension. Soil organic carbon and bulk density were also affected by strip tillage, showing a significant impact on soil structure. Overall, strip tillage enhances soil pore structure in the cool black soil region of Northeast China, which is important for sustainable soil management.
