Albacore tuna were caught most in the north and south during June to August, bigeye tuna in the east from January to June, skipjack tuna near the edges of the zone, and yellowfin tuna around the islands and south. Catch rates varied between years for albacore and bigeye tuna, but increased for skipjack and yellowfin tuna after 2014. This information can help manage Tonga's tuna resources better.
