A study was conducted to test different sunflower hybrids at a research station in West Bengal. The researchers compared 12 hybrids, including two developed at the station. They found that one of the hybrids, WBSH-2021, produced significantly higher seed and oil yields compared to the other hybrids. In fact, WBSH-2021 yielded 31% more seeds and 30% more oil than the check hybrids. This hybrid also outperformed specific check hybrids in a particular zone, showing 16% more seeds and 11% more oil. Based on these results, WBSH-2021 was selected for further testing in the Advanced Hybrid Trial.
