New oxygen additives boost gasoline octane, cut emissions, and fuel efficiency!
The study looked at how adding oxygen-containing compounds to gasoline can increase its octane number, which improves engine performance. They tested two additives, ethynylcyclohexanol (ECH) and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), in different gasoline mixtures. The results showed that ECH is more effective than MTBE at boosting the octane number of gasoline. This means that using ECH as an additive can make gasoline burn more efficiently and reduce harmful emissions.
