New method efficiently degrades antibiotic in water, reducing environmental contamination.
The scientists successfully broke down the antibiotic sulfamethoxazole using a new method called liquid phase plasma. They tested different conditions to find the best way to break down the antibiotic. They also added a chemical called peroxymonosulfate to make the breakdown process more effective. By studying the different substances produced during the breakdown, they figured out how the antibiotic breaks down using the liquid phase plasma method.
