New study identifies chickpea genotypes ideal for heat-stress tolerance breeding.
The researchers studied different chickpea genotypes to find those best suited for heat tolerance. They used various models to analyze data from multiple environments. Genotype IG 5871 showed lower heat susceptibility, while genotypes IG5862, IG5861, ILC239, IG6002, and ILC1932 were the most stable. Some genotypes performed well in specific environments, suggesting a target environment for optimal growth. These findings can help breed more heat-tolerant chickpea varieties.
