Freezers Go Green: Dimethyl Ether Outperforms Harmful R134a Refrigerant
The researchers tested dimethyl ether as a replacement for R134a in freezers to reduce global warming impact. They found that using dimethyl ether resulted in higher freezer performance, efficiency, and lower compressor power compared to R134a. The best performance was achieved with 70 grams of dimethyl ether, which was 46.7% of the amount of R134a used.
