China has many different types of freshwater fish, but they are in danger because of human activities like building dams. A study found that 355 species of Chinese freshwater fish are at risk of disappearing, with 69 in critical danger. The main reason for this is habitat loss from things like dam construction. Efforts to protect these fish are not working well because there is not enough information about them and the protection plans are not well-designed. To save Chinese freshwater fish, we need to do a big survey to learn more about them, make better plans to protect them, and release captive-bred fish into the wild.
