A study in the US shows that areas with more extreme weather exposure have lower access to food. Localized extreme weather events have a stronger negative effect on food availability than broader events. As extreme weather worsens, new strategies are needed to address disparities in food environments. Integrated approaches to improving vulnerable food retail environments will be crucial for disaster and food-related policies.
