Bananas are usually grown for their fruit, but in some areas like Tanjore district, they are also cultivated for their leaves. In these places, farmers let the banana plants grow for two years. In the first year, they harvest the fruit, and in the second year, they harvest the leaves. Surprisingly, the leaves bring in more money than the fruit. This unique way of growing bananas for leaves covers about 2,000 acres in Tanjore district.
