Toxic Arsenic Levels Threaten Drinking Water in Turkish District, Urgent Action Needed
The researchers tested water in Tavşanlı to see if it had dangerous metals. They checked 13 water samples for lead, iron, arsenic, and more in 2018. All metals, except arsenic, were within safe limits. Arsenic levels were too high for drinking in many samples, mainly from mining pollution. Only one sample had safe arsenic levels. Mines in the area are likely causing contamination. Mining practices need to be managed to keep water safe.
