Adding phosphorus to algae cultures at night boosts growth rates significantly.
The researchers studied how adding phosphorus at different times affects the growth of Chlorella vulgaris cultures. They found that adding phosphorus in the morning led to faster growth in stressful conditions, while evening additions stimulated growth in optimal conditions. The timing of phosphorus addition significantly influenced the growth rates of the culture, with morning additions showing stronger effects in limited light and temperature conditions. The study was part of a larger project on environmental changes and was supported by a scientific school at Moscow State University.
