Rapid urban growth in Ethiopia leads to significant land use changes.
Land Use and Land Cover Changes in Hawassa City, Ethiopia were studied using satellite images from 1990 to 2020. The main goal was to track changes in agriculture, bare land, built-up areas, bushland, forest, and water bodies. The findings show that built-up areas increased from 12.76% to 16.85%, while bare land and bushland decreased. This indicates significant land use conversion in the city over the past three decades.
