The article explores how microfinance, microcredit, and empowerment are connected. It looks at existing research to see if these concepts can be combined into one theory. Most studies use microfinance and microcredit interchangeably, and link them to different types of empowerment. However, there are few studies that show how microfinance and microcredit impact all forms of empowerment. Overall, the research suggests that a unified theory combining microfinance, microcredit, and empowerment is needed.
