Remittances in South Asia: Boosting Economy, Harming Environment Quality.
Remittances in South Asia impact the environment in a complex way. Positive remittance shocks can harm the environment, while negative shocks can actually help. Factors like trade and energy consumption make things worse, but foreign direct investment (FDI) can improve environmental quality. The study used a special model to show these relationships over the long and short term. The results suggest that balancing economic development with environmental goals is important for the region.
