Aquifer in Kleče at Risk of Pollution Due to Low Water Retention
Researchers used a high precision weighing lysimeter to study water balance in Kleče. They measured lysimeter mass, outflow mass, and precipitation to calculate water balance components for July 2011. Precipitation measurements are crucial for accurate evapotranspiration calculations. During times of high plant water needs, only significant rainfall events recharge groundwater. The aquifer sediments have low water retention, making them vulnerable to groundwater pollution.
