New study reveals significant sex differences in language-processing brain areas
Sex differences in language-related brain areas were studied in a group of young adults. Univariate analysis showed larger volumes in males in all areas, but when adjusting for total brain size, only two areas showed larger volumes in females. Multivariate analysis confirmed these findings, with larger volumes in males when not adjusted for brain size, and larger volumes in females when adjusted. The structure of these differences was similar in both analyses, highlighting specific brain areas involved in language processing.
