Drip Fertigation Boosts Tobacco Yields, Enhances Leaf Quality for Chewers
A study was done to see how drip fertigation affects the growth and quality of chewing tobacco plants. They compared drip fertigation with different levels of nitrogen to traditional surface irrigation. Drip fertigation at 100% nitrogen led to longer and wider leaves, higher leaf yield, and better water-use efficiency. It also increased profits and nutrient uptake. The tobacco was more chewable and had higher nicotine content with drip fertigation.
