Soil nailing and geotextiles save communities from devastating slope failures.
The study looked at a slope in Malaysia that was at risk of collapsing due to heavy rain. Using special software, the researchers found that the slope was not stable enough. They then tested two methods to strengthen the slope: soil nailing and geotextiles. Both methods worked well, with soil nailing being the recommended choice. By adding three long soil nails at a specific angle, the slope became much safer and less likely to collapse. Soil nailing is a reliable and cost-effective way to prevent landslides and erosion on unstable slopes.
